If that isn’t enough, we now have another reason to admire young Shyanne: her poise and eloquence when she took on the New Jersey Law and Public Safety Committee in Trenton, New Jersey. The 4th grade honor roll student explained to the politicians why the gun ban outlined in bill A2006 would negatively affect her competitive shooting career to the point that their family would be forced to move if she wished to continue competing in her sport.

“Everyone is upset about bad people doing bad things to others, but punishing the people who didn’t do anything wrong is not the way to stop bad people. Guns don’t do anything by themselves. If it wasn’t against the law, I would’ve brought one of my competition guns with me today to show you it won’t do anything unless someone touches it.

I ask you please keep the promise you made when you were elected by protecting people’s rights and voting no on A2006.”

Unfortunately, Shyanne’s words fell on deaf ears.  According to Firearms TV, the assemblymen passed the bill through the committee, and it is headed to the desk of the Governor.
