Gun Control and making it harder to obtain certain weapons is the first reaction we have after we have completed recoiling in horror. Somethings can make us cringe then question and as the search for answers continues some want to revisit the Second Amendment.
I; for lack of a better term at the moment am A horrible human being. I will admit that. I didn’t even bat an eye, nor am I remotely even directly interested or affected in the least by the events that transpired in Connecticut. Kids died, teachers died, killers dead. Yup, that sucks. Tragic.
That is the thing about tragedy. It does not care how old you are. It does not care what your skin color is. What your background, GPA is or how much is in your checking account. If you cannot accept that this is the world we live in then its time you head to the self-checkout counter.
I did catch a blurb on the news as I was picking up my pizza. They mentioned a Bushnell .223 Rifle (verbatim). I giggled and was looked at funny. I had to explain myself as I now had received a look of horror at my slight chuckle. For those unaware the rifle that CBS was tip toeing around the actual common name is the AR-15 the civilian version of the M-16. Thus I giggled at the media tip toeing around it. Obviously someone at CBS is pro-gun. All rifles are legally purchasable at 18 years of age. Hand guns however you must be 21. I believe the killer was how old? 20? So the two hand guns he had he was in illegal possession of? Criminals will get guns period. Laws are made for honest people to keep them honest.
So I am still hedging my bet that no matter what laws are made that a criminal or someone with malicious intent wont obey the law. I came to that conclusion without a law degree. Without a degree in criminology or criminal psychology. Why? common sense.
Some believe that the Second Amendment has a purpose to exist only for hunting. I say it exists not for hunting at all but to protect myself from my government. That was the original intention. It was needed as every man of age served in his towns militia. Today while the militia has become the National Guard. I do strongly feel that an armed citizenry is the only piece left from stopping the Federal Government from imposing absolute control. We haven’t much left to protect us from the Constitution being usurped. I can’t do much with a .40 cal Styr M40 Hand gun now can I? So I will keep my Assault Weapons, my high-capacity magazines. You should as well.

Why? Criminals do not care; until they realize that they have put themselves in a situation in which they are not in control. Why do these people “opt out” so often? It is because there is this sudden realization of what they have done. They are unable to cope with their actions. These are not ordinary criminals. These are the good people who have just lost their minds and committed criminal acts.
The ones that do not “opt-out” are the truly wicked and evil. Those that are willing to stand in court and grin and smile and have their day. Those are your truly evil. What creates these beasts of man? The indifference of good men. If you handed a gun to everyone. Everyone then knew that everyone else also had a gun. You would see quite a bit less gun violence. The story seems to change when you are no longer just on the giving end of the barrel. Criminals and the wicked are hesitant when there is an opportunity that their actions will cause them actual harm.
Walk through my door armed or with any foreseeable intent. You will leave in a body bag. I will make coffee and have a smoke. Likely even listen to Bocheli or Beethoven while they are rolling you out.
Do not be afraid to own a gun. There must be a realization that gun ownership and a conceal carry permit is your ONLYway to take a stand and say No. Not my family, friends, loved ones, or co-workers. Not as along as I am around. I will not be one who goes quietly into the night. I will not see someone I love go before their time. I will no longer choose to be indifferent or believe that it cannot happen to me or someone I love. I am not immune to tragedy. I am not immune to hatred or the wrath of the wicked.
